Claude Haiku is the fastest, most economical Anthropic model family, suited to high-volume and latency-sensitive tasks.
It handles classification, extraction, and simple generation cheaply and quickly. In agents it is often used for inner-loop steps while a larger model handles planning. It rounds out the Opus, Sonnet, and Haiku trade-off.
